Canyoneering Utah was born out of a deep love for Southern Utah's canyon country. What started out as weekend adventures with friends and family turned into a career in sharing the amazing sport of canyoneering with anyone willing to take on a new experience!
Canyoneering Utah is a new operation as of 2025 and is led by industry experienced guides with a wide variety of professional backgrounds guiding the sport.
We focus on giving personalized experiences to each group we take out. Every guest deserves real attention, real guidance, and a real adventure. Whether it's your first rappel or your hundredth, we will make sure the experience is one you'll talk about for years.

Ryan de Vries
Owner / Head Guide
I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. Thanks to my dad I grew up climbing and skiing in the Wasatch Mountains near home. Eventually I got hooked on canyoneering and started spending most of my free time exploring the slot canyons of Southern Utah. That passion led me into a career of becoming a canyon guide. I have worked in some amazing places guiding canyons outside of Utah such as Ouray, Colorado and even New Zealand. Now I'm back home in Utah and stoked to get you out in the canyons! In my free time I enjoy mountain running, bikepacking, traveling, and obviously canyoneering!
